Modeled on male underwear ads, the diaper subverts the sex appeal of the advertising to point out the absurdity of the perpetual youth culture sold by these images. The idealization of youth, stretched to the extreme, illustrates how this mentality leads to an unreasonable refusal by men to grow up. Not only does American society idealize youth, people strive to act younger and younger in many areas of their lives. Whereas adolescents once strove to act like adults, adults now behave more and more like children.
